Cover Reveal and Contest Giveaway

Image

It’s here! Our beautiful cover for the first issue of Altar and Hearth magazine, in all its sweet and sincere happiness.  On the cover is Victoria Kiernan and Christiana Vreeland, friends.  This is a photo of women like yourselves. They are real. They are happy. They are trads.

We would love to see more photos of happy trad girls on the covers of the magazine.  As a quarterly magazine (as of right now) we’ll be looking for photos from each of the seasons, so if you have an awesome impromptu shot of you wearing your poofy winter coat, send it in!  It’s quite possible we’ll use it.  As to the other, our CONTEST, keep reading…

It’s taken a lot of effort, but the first issue of Altar and Hearth is near completion! For the next two weeks we’ll be hosting a contest on the website and on the FB page.  Winners (there will be one for each!) will receive a free hard copy of our first issue AND a $10 gift card code to M&M Creations.  M&M Creations makes handmade luxury beauty products and their combos of scents for soaps and scrubs are delicious (Champagne Pear? Yes, please!)

How it works: Starting at noon today (4/28/2014) follow this blog and then leave us comment below letting us know.  (Click on the brown wheel at the top of this page to see the follow options). Our 50th follower is the winner! Contest ends two weeks from today on Monday, May 19 at noon.  The winner announcement will be posted on May 20.

You can also enter in our Facebook page contest (click HERE for more info.) Both contest winners will be announced along with (drumroll)….our June launch date for Altar and Hearth!  I hope you are getting excited – at least a little bit.  🙂

And for more reasons than just Our Lord’s Resurrection, we are very happy.  We have discovered the wonders of smallpdf.com, a merging site for pdf files.  This website along with joomag will go a long way toward the production of the magazine on our shoestring budget and profuse elbow grease.   We’ll be revealing the cover next week, and setting our date for the first edition.  Along with that, Altar and Hearth’s FB page will be hosting a free hard copy give-away.  So if you’re interested, like our FB page for updates (click on the wheel looking thing up top and a drop down menu will show you the FB like button).  Happy Easter!

UPDATE

Easter Eggs

Probably won’t be posting again until after Easter, so here’s a preemptive greeting!

Just wanted to update all of our interested parties.  The magazine is coming along smoothly.  I’ve received some article contributions from a few intrepid souls (intrepid because I can’t compensate them for their effort at this point!) and am waiting on several more promised ones.

I’ll be doing a big reveal of the lovely cover and celebrate with a free hard copy give-away in May.   So excited!  In the meantime, I can tell you we have about half of our articles in and are looking at a 20-22 pg. ezine.

We are still seeking articles on Health and Outdoors, Spiritual Life, Home and Family, Relationships, Fiction and Poetry, anecdotes for Everyday Funny, and your worst photo for our Photo Journal.  Topics currently filled are Food, and Fashion and Beauty.

A reminder to all of you that would like to see this happen, we are currently running our GoFundMe campaign.  We appreciate any support you can provide to the completion of this endeavor!  Click on the link to contribute:

Latest Changes

The Fashion and Beauty section is currently closed for submissions, but the rest of the categories would love some content!

Photo Journal for this issue is “Best of the Bad” pics – so send us your worst, most cringe-worthy photos, and let us cringe with you… if you dare! 🙂

Check our submission guidelines for all submissions, and scroll down to see if there is anything else we are in particular need of.

Altar and Hearth appreciates your contributions, participation or continued support.

Altar and Hearth Magazine is currently seeking photos to place in the magazine.

If you have high quality, impromptu shots of you, your friends, your spouse, your kids, your gardens, flower beds, favorite outfits, activities, statues, landscapes or any mixture of the above we would appreciate your help with this.

You may not be a professional photographer, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have some stand out pics.  Please follow the guidelines listed below, and thank you for helping support Altar and Hearth!

  • Between 500 and 1,500 total number of pixels
  • Modest – please no bared shoulders, cleavage or deep necklines, no knee caps or thighs.  Anything with lace should be tasteful and not reminiscent of bedroom wear.
