July 16th is the feast day of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. How are you celebrating (other than the obvious, a really, really focused and prayerful rosary :D)?

Isn’t this Tarte Bouquet de Roses a pretty way to mark the occasion?

ALTAR AND HEARTH ISSUE 1 is officially launched!

It's Here

Oh, yeah, peeps!  The first issue of Altar and Hearth Magazine has been launched.  As of right now, it’s just an ezine, while I figure out how to print out some copies for a select few who have donated the Beyond Classy amount toward production.  So, if you want to read (it’s free), go to our ISSUES PAGE and click on the PDF link to read online or down load.

Also, check out our new Contests page, maybe you’d like to enter!

Change of plans

When I founded this magazine, the plan was to use joomag.com as the ezine platform for publication.  But I just discovered that in order to access magazines on joomag, one has to sign up.

facepalm

Since I think that will limit readership (honestly, I can’t imagine many signing up for that, I know I wouldn’t) I am nixing the Joomag idea and instead will be publishing right from this website.  You should be able to read or download it right from the ISSUES page.  User friendly and simple is always better, right? 🙂  Look for the inaugural issue of Altar and Hearth Magazine on June 9th!

We have a winner!

cONTEST WINNER GLIDDEN

Since we didn’t make it to 50 followers, I randomly drew a name from the list of followers I did have.  Congrats to Sabrina Glidden.  Hope you stop by this blog sometime.  In the mean time, I’ll try and track down your email and send you the gift card code to M&M Creations.

For everyone else: Launch date for the first issue will be revealed later today!

Cover Reveal and Contest Giveaway

Image

It’s here! Our beautiful cover for the first issue of Altar and Hearth magazine, in all its sweet and sincere happiness.  On the cover is Victoria Kiernan and Christiana Vreeland, friends.  This is a photo of women like yourselves. They are real. They are happy. They are trads.

We would love to see more photos of happy trad girls on the covers of the magazine.  As a quarterly magazine (as of right now) we’ll be looking for photos from each of the seasons, so if you have an awesome impromptu shot of you wearing your poofy winter coat, send it in!  It’s quite possible we’ll use it.  As to the other, our CONTEST, keep reading…

It’s taken a lot of effort, but the first issue of Altar and Hearth is near completion! For the next two weeks we’ll be hosting a contest on the website and on the FB page.  Winners (there will be one for each!) will receive a free hard copy of our first issue AND a $10 gift card code to M&M Creations.  M&M Creations makes handmade luxury beauty products and their combos of scents for soaps and scrubs are delicious (Champagne Pear? Yes, please!)

How it works: Starting at noon today (4/28/2014) follow this blog and then leave us comment below letting us know.  (Click on the brown wheel at the top of this page to see the follow options). Our 50th follower is the winner! Contest ends two weeks from today on Monday, May 19 at noon.  The winner announcement will be posted on May 20.

You can also enter in our Facebook page contest (click HERE for more info.) Both contest winners will be announced along with (drumroll)….our June launch date for Altar and Hearth!  I hope you are getting excited – at least a little bit.  🙂

And for more reasons than just Our Lord’s Resurrection, we are very happy.  We have discovered the wonders of smallpdf.com, a merging site for pdf files.  This website along with joomag will go a long way toward the production of the magazine on our shoestring budget and profuse elbow grease.   We’ll be revealing the cover next week, and setting our date for the first edition.  Along with that, Altar and Hearth’s FB page will be hosting a free hard copy give-away.  So if you’re interested, like our FB page for updates (click on the wheel looking thing up top and a drop down menu will show you the FB like button).  Happy Easter!
